Each year millions of tonnes of powdered and granular materials as diverse as cement, animal feed, silicates, fertilizer, fly ash and flour, are routinely off-loaded from tankers into storage silos across the UK. Normally the loads are discharged by fluidising the materials with compressed air and blowing them into the silo.
