Gordon Elliott (Tony) Fogg (1919 - 2005): pioneering plant physiologist and gifted writer

Gordon Elliott Fogg, known as Tony by his family and friends, was born in Langar, Nottinghamshire, Eng-land, UK, on 26 April 1919. The son of a Methodist minister Leslie C. Fogg, and Doris M. Fogg (nee Elli-ott), he attended Dulwich College as a schoolboy when his father was posted to nearby Greenwich. Tony Fogg’s enthusiasm for plants began during his school holidays on his grandparents’ farm, and he developed this interest at University by studying botany at Queen Mary College in London under Professor Felix E. Fritsch.
