Shell Eastern Launching Production Of Ethylene Glycol on Jurong Island

Singapore-Shell Eastern Petroleum is starting up its new 750,000-t/y ethylene glycol (EG) plant on Jurong Island, Singapore, reported Dow Jones News wires.The facility, part of Shell's new petrochemical complex, is expected to reach full production in the first quarter of 2010 and will use Shell's Omega technology (PCN, 23 June 08, p 1).The complex also includes an 800,000-t/y ethylene cracker on Palau Bukom. "As this ethylene plant is not in operation yet, Shell is shipping in ethylene as feedstock . . . via a newly-constructed jetty," for the EG plant, said Dow Jones quoting a Shell spokesman.
