Efficacy of two readymix formulations of insecticides, viz., Polytrin C 44 EC (Profenofos 40% + Cypermethrin 4%) at three different doses and single dose of Nurelle D 505 (Chlorpyriphos 50% + Cypermethrin 5%) along with single dose of three standard checks, viz., Monocrotophos 36 EC, Chlorpyriphos 20 EC and Quinalphos 25 EC were evaluated against Pigeonpea pod borer complex infesting medium maturing Pigeonpea and their impact on potent parasites at Zonal Agriculture Research Station, J.N. AgricultureUniversity, Khargone (M.R) during 2001-2002. The results revealed that both the readymix formulation of insecticides significantly reduced the pod borer complex infestation over control and standard checks and also registered higher grain yields. Further, they were found to be quite safer against Carcelia sp., a larval/pupal parasite of Helicoverpa armigera. Studies further revealed that yield loss of 73.34 and 37.78 and 55.47 Kg/ha was obtained for each unit increase in H. armigera larval population and for every unit per cent increase in pod and grain damage respectively. Similarly, yield loss of 35.29 and 81.58 Kg/ha was obtained for every unit per cent increase in pod and grain damage by Melanagromyza obfusa respectively. From 50% flowering stageand upto a period of 1 month the Economic Threshold Levels (ETL) worked out were 4.8% H. armigera larvae/10 plants while it was 10.1% pod or 5.1% grain damage by H. armigera and 7.7% pod or 2.7% grain damage by M. obfusa at harvest respectively.
