At the end of 2007 a new production scheme, Integrated Production (IP), was officially introduced in Slovakia mostly affecting viticulture and fruit and vegetable production. IP schemes were first designed in 2005-2007, when the EU-supported Rural Development Program 2007-2013 was set up. Along with providing IP guidance schemes the Rural Development Program has also been encouraging IP by providing subsidies to motivate producers to embrace the new production methods.
