摘要

Optical Remote Sensing is concerned with target characterization using visible, near infrared and short wave infrared light as the information carrier (400-2500 nm). Sensors now exist that provides parts of the 10 dimensional information content available: spatial (2 horizontal and 1 vertical), angular (azimuthal and zenithal angles), spectral (wavelength or equivalently frequency), polarization (2 linear and 1 elliptical) and temporal (target variability). Target characterization is achieved through de-correlation of the target signal from characteristics and distortions from the source, the intervening medium and the sensor. To that effect, for complex systems such as vegetation canopies it is desirable that as much of the available information content be sampled.
