Future energy challenges

It seems the chance to network, discuss ideas, share experiences and shape the direction for the oil and gas sector's future was too good an opportunity to miss at a time of low oil prices and uncertainty as the opening conference at this year's International Petroleum (IP) Week was full to capacity. Sponsored by EY, Phillips 66 and DNV GL the day's proceedings began with overviews of global energy prospects, moving on to discuss the opportunities created by changing markets, shifting trade patterns and hedging against price volatility. A diverse range of presentations focused on the challenges facing new E&P developments, while the afternoon speakers addressed the difficulties facing the global downstream sector and strategies for raising capital for oil and gas projects across the oil and gas chain, the latter an issue creeping ever higher up the management agenda according to the session Chair, John Martin FEI, Senior Vice President, World Petroleum Council (WPC).
