Commentary on 'advances in the endovascular management of acute injury'.

Dr Reed's article demonstrates the broad potential applications of endovascular techniques in dealing with the unique challenges presented by traumatic vascular injury. Undeniably, the use of such techniques has increased recently. As this article and the rapid adoption of stent grafting for blunt thoracic aortic injury demonstrates, these techniques have been accepted by our colleagues in trauma surgery, and vascular surgeons will be expected to provide them as an option for the acute management of arterial injury.
