A 6-month-old boy presented with a congenital yellowish-red, infiltrated asymptomatic plaque on the back (Fig. 1). The plaque was approximately 3 cm in diameter, with some more discrete papules and nodules at the periphery. The lesion had grown slowly since birth, and crusting occurred on one of the nodules at times. The patient's history did not reveal evidence of any accompanying systemic disease. No family history of similar lesions was present. Rubbing of the lesion did not provoke erythema. A punch biopsy was performed on one of the peripheral papules (Fig. 2).
