UK plastic demand grows 1.2% in 2012

DEMAND for plastics in the UK in 2012 increased by 1.2% over the year before, according to PlasticsEurope, the trade association representing the European Union's 27 member states. Demand for plastics materials stood at 3.7 million tonnes in 2012, of which packaging took a 44.3%, building and construction 19.2% and automotive 5.9% (see below). Even so, primary plastics production decreased by 6.3% comparedto2011.
