Cool kisds At Bristol Bay, more and more salmon harvesters invest in chilling the catch

As ground zero for extraordinary annual returns of sockeye, Bristol Bay supports Alaska's most valuable salmon fishery.But this blessing of fish has been something of a curse for the bay, where quality issues have plagued the fishery's reputation. Historically, many if not all of the sockeye were delivered dry to the plants, without the benefit of chilling. This was somewhat understandable, as dealing with millions of fish pouring in over the course of only a few days presents a tremendous challenge.
