Lifeboat rescue: The Steveston Lifeboat, a vessel that has made 861 rescues over its career including 21 during last summer's Fraser River sockeye salmon fishery, had to be evacuated after it was holed by a submerged piling during a Dec. 11 training exercise.The boat had departed the Steveston harbor on the Fraser River in Richmond, British Columbia, to conduct radar training."As we headed out, I handed the watch over to one of our other captains, a master mariner, because I wanted to concentrate on training," said vessel commander John Horton.
