Oregon fisherman guilty of stealing Dungeness crab pots

An Oregon Dungeness crab fisherman has been sentenced to 60 months probation and fined for stealing at least 170 pots from his fellow fishermen. Perry A. Kanury (F/V Blue Belle), who pleaded guilty, also was ordered to pay court costs and fines totaling 18,952 dollar. Ironically, a portion of the fine — 5,000 dollar — will be contributed to a fishermen-run bounty fund that was instrumental in Kanury's arrest and sentencing.
