Government scientists: Don't worry about B.C. salmon pens

The Pacific Salmon Forum is at it again, releasing an interim report claiming that research it sponsored in 2007 did not support claims of the deadly effects of salmon farming. Recent studies have said floating net pens act as pestilence sumps that infect passing smolt with sea lice to a degree that entire wild runs are doomed. Initial studies focused on runs originating in the Broughton Archipelago, but new information shows that the farms have a deadly effect on runs from elsewhere.
