Goodbye tax, hello cash? Alaska legislators were considering bills to suspend the state fuel tax and give each resident 1,200 dollar as ways to take the bite out of high energy costs. Gov. Sarah Palin offered the legislation as a replacement for her earlier proposal to distribute "energy debit cards" worth 100 per month dollar. That plan was dropped as problematic. The state would fund the energy relief from its enormous oil tax revenue.
