Getting legal: Last summer, the Department of Transportation (DOT) started ticketing fishermen towing boats around town without the proper permits. Such traffic regulations have existed for a long time but weren't enforced in Cordova, where there's nohighway, and fishermen typically move their boats only short distances, between a few yards to a couple of miles.Now, fishermen are required to placard their trucks and boats with oversize-vehicle signs, flashing amber lights, flags, and in some cases, be escorted by pilot cars.
