摘要

Running water: There was a collective sense of relief last August when a judge lifted an injunction and allowed the release of Trinity Reservoir water into the Trinity River, which feeds the Klamath River. But suspense lingered, as the Yurok Tribe and its legal allies eyed the situation and readied to return to court to demand more water if necessary.A fall run of 272,000 Chinook was near the mouth of the Klamath, and fish had been approaching, moving in and then retreating from 75 degree water. But by early September, fish were moving into the river, attracting hordes of sport fishermen and easing the minds of everyone who hadn't yet ruled out the prospect of a fish kill."They're finally in," reported Mike Belchik, the Yurok Tribe's Klamath River Division fisheries biologist, in mid-September. The fish were in the middle of the Yurok reservation at that point, a few miles away from the river's mouth.
