Pollock — Good news: Pollock B season was off to a down-and-dirty start in the Bering Sea. The allocation is 740,000 metric tons, and the fleet is mostly on track to complete the harvest by early fall. Expectations for the season were reasonably highat the outset, since A season moved along at a nice clip despite a 54 percent increase in the pollock quota. "I think there was a bit of concern that they upped the quota too high and too fast, but A season turned out to be pretty good," said Scott Bingen, of the F/V Starlite. "So, we're hoping that the science was good and that maybe there will be a lot more fish around in B season as well."
