I ran into Bruce, Kevin, and Eric Sorensen at Arrow Marine Services in Richmond, B.C., April 28 while they were working on their steel trawler, Pacific Ocean.I asked them how the hake fishing has been in the past few years.Even though they are encouraged by the increase in hake quota this year, the brothers who fish the 80-foot vessel say that the effort on hake is so concentrated now that it is a struggle to remain competitive."It's changed a lot in the last 12 years," Kevin said. "The gear is a lot more efficient than it used to be."
