What can 1,189 acres of restored wetland, prairie, and forest in the heart of an industrial agricultural zone offer higher education programs in sustain-ability? This question guides the development of undergraduate and graduate programs at the MerryLea Environmental Learning Center (Merry Lea) of Goshen College.* We are surrounded by corn and soybean fields interspersed with wood lots in a glacially carved portion of northeastern Indiana. Recognizing the unique educational opportunities embedded within the region, we have developed programs that are grounded in, and draw upon, the landscapes we inhabit.
