Checking conducted and radiated emissions prior to full EMC compliance testing

Evaluation must be performed on a production unit, therefore testing typically occurs at the end of the development process. However, if the product fails at this late stage, delays are likely. To reduce the chances of such delays, many companies are including pre-compliance testing of EMI as part of their development process. Although pre-compliance measurements are not a replacement for compliance testing, favorable results are a positive indicator.
