The effectiveness of purgation and electroacupuncture in extrahepatic bile duct stone complicated with acute biliary pancreatitis: management of biliary stone pancreatitis through traditional Chinese medicine.

Standard management of for postpan-creatitis patients who have retained bile stones or cholangitis consists of postoperative or intraoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography or laparoscopic or open common bile duct exploration. These invasive interventions, however, cause considerable complications. Taking the advantage of traditional Chinese medicine, patients with retained extrahepatic bile duct stone (EBDS) after treatment of acute biliary pancreatitis (ABP) can also be effectively dealt by using combination of purgative herbals and acupuncture. Here we presented 2 cases.
