In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution on the ten Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics (FPOS) preserving their original wording [4]. In the preamble of this resolution it is pointed out that "professional independence and accountability of statistical agencies are crucial" to ensure "the essential trust of the public in the integrity of official statistical systems and confidence in statistics" [4].
