Iride in Design - Project for the rapid prototyping of new ceramic tile designs

The current international economic crisis and the problems in the market have forced ceramic tile companies to think long and hard about the methods and initiatives they should take in order to continue to stay competitive. To take on the challenges created by globalization, risky decisions must be made as well as keeping an eye on the international markets that need to be faced head on, with dynamism and competitiveness. Ceramic as a malleable material, non-perishable, already used in ancient times to make vases, containers and assorted ornaments, has always fascinated man and brought out his artistic talent for its colour and decorative possibilities. Colour combined with the transparent, brilliant and deep effects of ceramic has always been a factor that has favoured this material above any other even more practical and economical materials. Colour management in the ceramic process is a difficult variable to control and requires, throughout the entire production cycle, in-depth knowledge both of ceramic (laboratory research) and of technology (colorimetry).
