Arizona Mining Association Chairman's Message

Mining has been contributing to Arizona's economy for over 175 years. Through good times and bad times society needs minerals, citizens need well pay-ing jobs. The Arizona Mining Association's members have accomplished these tasks well and will continue to do so. Currently the copper mining industry provides 10,300 high-paying jobs in Arizona. Those employees produced 65 percent of the nation's newly-mined copper; that means we can use US-produced copper and rely less upon imported copper. Minerals are key components in American homes, offices, cars, communication systems and beyond; and play a critically important role in shaping America's national security through their use in the manufacture of military equipment and aircraft, Anytime we can make our country less dependent upon foreign products while providing American jobs, we can be proud of our accomplishments.
