Development Done Right: Project Evergreen recognized two properties for going above and beyond in their efforts to preserve and enhance green spaces

We've all seen the same sad scenario time and again: A builder bulldozes through the land in the name of development. Mature shade trees suffer premature death, wildlife is displaced, and more edifices emerge. But it doesn't have to be this way. Two developments — the Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort/Stone Mountain Golf Club and the Verandah community — are proving that construction can include a commitment to conservation. Project Evergreen recently recognized these two properties with its 2007 Because Green Matters Award. Project Evergreen is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the awareness of the environmental, economic, and lifestyle benefits of landscapes and promoting the significance of those who preserve and enhance green spaces.
