The men in my generation usually entered the profession of their families. If your father was an attorney, you generally went into law. Same thing with physicians, accountants, and so forth. My family was in the scrap business, so that's how I ended up in recycling. After I graduated from the University of Texas, I joined the family business. If I had to choose another career not in this industry, I'd become an architect. I enjoy the design of space, the relationship of space with other elements, and the relationship of space with its environment. I also enjoy diplomacy. I love to meet people and bring different personalities together to forge a consensus and move a project or an idea forward. I do that a lot in business. I do that a lot for ISRI.
