Kristensen at al have presented a comprehensive analysis of the number needed to treat (NNT) for the three anti-tumour necrosis factor-alpha (anti-TNFa) agents adalimumab, etanercept, and infliximab on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (1). The treatment criterion used was the American College of Rheumatology 50% (ACR50) response, the preferred endpoint for contemporary RA trials.
