US zinc: SHG premiums heard in wide range

US zinc premiums were heard in a wide range this week, although many market participants were out of the market attending the International Zinc Association conference in Orlando, Florida. Premiums on special high-grade zinc were heard in a range of about 7 to 9 cents/lb, plus LME cash. A Canadian zinc producer said his company continued to draw the line at 9 cents — citing the market view of a coming shortage zinc metal this year — although he had heard premiums elsewhere at 7-8 cents.
