Ferriola stresses DRI cost advantage at low prices

When Nucor’s direct reduced iron facility in Louisiana comes back online this month it will continue to give the company a cost advantage even in a lower-priced raw material environment, Nucor CEO John Ferriola said Tuesday. Speaking at Platts Steel Markets North America conference in Chicago, Ferriola said in the current depressed raw material pricing environment, DRI provides the company “with a single rather than a home run.”
