Wesfarmers 2011 profit rises 19% on previous year

Wesfarmers has reported full year earnings before interest and tax for its coal division of 439 million Australia dollars (460 million dollars), up 19% on the 369 million Australia dollars it posted a year earlier, it said Thursday. The Perth-headquartered company said its earnings were generated from production of 14 million mt of metallurgical and thermal coal from its operations in Queensland and New South Wales in the 12 months to June 30 2012, some 500,000 mt more than total coal output in fiscal 2011.
