India's NMDC reports 7% y-o-y fall in H1 iron ore output

State-owned Indian miner NDMC Ltd has reported a 6.9% year on year drop in iron ore output for the first half of the April 2012-March 2013 fiscal year. A statement issued by the Indian steel ministry Tuesday said NMDC's iron ore production during April-September totaled 12.24 million mt, compared to 13.15 million mt in the same period last year. Ore production during the April-June quarter had risen 12% year on year to 6.82 million mt but was subsequently impacted owing to heavy rainfall during July-September, it said.
