International Ferro Metalsproduced 49,800 mt of ferrochrome in thethree months to December 31, the secondquarter of its fiscal year, up 3% from theprevious quarter but down from output of58,621 mt in the year-earlier period, theSouth African producer said Thursday.The company was forced to temporarilysuspend production at its two ferrochromefurnaces and pelletizer in November whenthe South African Department of Mineral Resources issued a section 54 noticeunder the Mine Health & Safety Act aftertwo employees were exposed to carbonmonoxide. Both employees received treatmentand made a full recovery.
