Asian metallurgical coal spottrade was active Friday with multiple dealsdone as Chinese import appetite surged on logistical and output constraints inthe domestic market, as well as firmerdownstream steel demand.Platts assessed premium low-vol hardcoking coal up $1/mt at $78.75/mt CFRChina Friday. This equated to $74.20/mt FOBAustralia after accounting for Panamax-sizefreight of $4.55/mt. Prices for second-tiermaterial was assessed up $1/mt at $76.75/mtCFR China, or $72.20/mt FOB Australia afteraccounting for Panamax-size freight.
