Bearishness in the iron ore and Chinese steel markets during the past week has spilled over into the East Asian scrap import market. Transacted prices for bulk ferrous scrap were flat on week as most regional importers preferred to adopt a wait-and-see approach. On Friday, Platts maintained its East Asian bulk HMS I/II (80:20) weekly assessment at $255-$260/mt CFR East Asia, unchanged from the previous week.
