China domestic scrap market stable, imports quiet

In the country's northern regions, major scrap consumers, including Tianjin Pipe Group, also kept prices unchanged over the week, although some small private mills in Hebei accepted higher scrap prices driven by the rebound in billet and rebar. However, those mills were purchasing only small volumes and thus prevailing spot prices were not much affected. Local market prices for HMS were still hovering at Yuan 2,450-2,550/mt with VAT, almost the same level as a week earlier.
