Peru's Mapsa expects to start iron ore exports in 2013

Peru's Minera Mapsa will start operations at its Aucapampa iron ore project in 2013, CEO Mario Fernando Bayona Pelaez told Platts Steel Business Briefing. In the first year, the iron ore mine located in the Apurímac region will produce around 1 million mt of iron ore, which will be entirely destined for the export market. The international trade will be facilitated by the construction of San Juan de Marcona port, which is being supported by the local government and will serve other Mapsa projects as well.
