Strike canceled at Australia's Fremantle port after job pledge

Cargo handlers at Fremantle port in Western Australia ended their industrial action Tuesday, one day into a planned six-day strike that began Monday, said a spokeswoman for Fremantle port. Fremantle ports chief executive Chris Leatt-Hayter said in a statement the port was now operating normally and that the strike by members of the Maritime Union of Australia had stopped.
