A simple titrimetric method for the determination of molecular weight of ascorbic acid and the amount of ascorbic acid present in commercially available vitamin-C tablets is described. The method invlves the oxidative dehydrogenation of ascorbic acid by chlroamine-T in water followed by the determination of unreacted chloriamine-T by iodometry.
