OXIDATION OF PRIMARY ALCOHOLS BY QUINOLINIUM DICHROMATE.A KINETIC PROBE

摘要

The oxidation of primary alcohols by quinolinium dichromate,in acid medium,gave the corresponding aldehydes.The reaction was first order in each-substrate,oxidant and acid.The mechanistic pathway involved the formation of a cyclic chromate ester,which underwent decomposition,in the rate-determining step,to give the product.
