摘要

Kinetics and mechanism of oxidation of salicylic acid by bromamine-B (BAB)have been studied in perchloric acid medium.The reaction shows first order kinetics with [BAB], first order kinetics with [salicylic acid] and also it is dependent on first power of concentration of catalyst [Ru(III)].During the reaction, it is observed that there is a inverse first order with respect to perchloric acid.The rate of oxidation is independent of ionic strength of medium, indicating interaction in the rate-determining step is ion-dipole type, not ion-ion type.A suitable mechanism consistent with kinetic data has been proposed.
