Market margins analysis of citrus produce in Malakand District of NWFP.

摘要

This study was conducted during January 2004 in Palai area of Malakand district, Pakistan, which is famous for its quality citrus fruits. The main objective of the study was to generate information regarding the citrus marketing system in the area. The data were gathered by interviewing 50 producers and 10 wholesalers in the area. The total marketing cost per hundred number of fruits at wholesale level was estimated at Rs.26.75 while at retail level it was Rs.23.48. Marketing margin (Mm) received by Beopari was 16.67%, while the net margin (Nm) estimated, amounting to Rs.2.25 per hundred number of fruits. The Mm estimated for citrus retailers was 17.84%, and the Nm amounting to Rs. 9.52 per hundred number of fruits. For promotion of citrus marketing in the area, producers/Beoparis of the area should be trained in modern packaging techniques meeting the International standards to make them able to export citrus fruit especially to Gulf countries..
