6th Japan international SAMPE symposium & exhibition: a new perspective in advancement of materials keys to the 21st century

The JISSE-6 conference held at the Tokyo Big SightConference Center in Tokyo, Japan on October 26-29, 1999 waswell attended by the international community. SAMPEinternational immediate past president, John Willis, and theSAMPE Pacific Rim International vice President, Dr. NobuoOhashi, represented the SAMPE Executive Cabinet at JISSE-6.The Symposium consisted of two plenary lectures, 12 generaltechnical sessions, four satellite workshops, a student session, anda panel discussion. It was a very successful conference, with over300 papers presented during the four day event. The symposiumChairman, Prof. Toshio Tanimoto of Shonan Institute ofTechnology, indicated the conference was attended by over 400international participants from about 20 countries. The exhibitionportion, featuring about 50 booths in the SAMPE section of thislarge conference, attracted almost 50,000 visitors during the event.
