The abstract of the article "Outcome of Nonoperative vs Operative Treatment of Humeral Shaft Fractures: A Retrospective Study of 213 Patients" by Denard et al (33[8]:552) initially suggested to me that the article was sponsored by a surgical implant manufacturing company bent on discrediting a treatment modality that runs contrary to the financial goals of industry. When I read the full article online (http:// www.orthosupersite.com/view. aspx?rid=66652), I realized I had rushed to judgment.
