Hog farmers wait to see what poorly growing crops do to corn price in the fall. WITH CORN PRICES RISING - and threatening to go even higher depending on the 2011 U.S. crop -North American hog producers may be facing another painful round of adjustment, according to a Purdue University agricultural economist. While it seems now that producers are largely attuned to corn prices of between US$5 and $6/bu, Chris Hurt said he expects there will be at least some liquidation of herds if indeedcorn futures remain around current levels of around $7.50/bu.
