Weed hosts of rice blast fungus in Meghalays, India

The rice blast fungus Pyricularia grisea was isolated from two weed hosts Digitaria ciliaris and D. marginata which were severely infected with blast and pathogenicity was confirmed. On cross inoculation to rice plants, typical blast symptoms were observed. By inoculating on the international blast differentials the race of weed hosts was found to be identical to the rice (IC-12) which infect rice plant.
