A look at orchids named for the wives of the commanders in chief. Former president harry S. Truman sometimes referred to the White House as "The Big White Jail." While the walls and duties may be somewhat confining, most First Ladies have left positive lasting marks on society. Some have set fashion trends, some have influenced entertaining and decorating and most have called attention to a particular personal passion. As they served their terms, many of them discovered orchids or orchid hybridizersdiscovered them.
