2 British naturalists, a young student from Oxford University and an older expert on Odon., collaborated on material from SE Europe in 1898. The first of these, M. Burr, collected the material while on a tour of the Balkans, Romania and Hungary in that year and R. McLachlan identified the specimens and published the work in the same year. The species list provides some of the earliest information on the Odon. from this part of the world, and is updated with additional notes.
