Museums Hold Oil Treasures

If you haven't done so yet, it's worth the drive to see the site of the first commercial oil well in North America and explore the humble beginnings of the global petroleum industry. That first well, dug by James Miller Williams in 1858, exists on the grounds of the Oil Museum of Canada, which is immediately south of Oil Springs, Ont. Signs along Highway 21 will lead you there.
