Demand for oil and high-liquid-conteht opportunities is increasing acquisition costs in the few plays that meet buyers' needs. The most sought-after plays have some combination of oil or liquids production, horizontal-drilling applications, expansive scale, a large oil-in-place target and de-risking from historical vertical and horizontal wells. The core Bakken (oil) and Eagle Ford (oil/liquids) meet all of these criteria, with hundreds of wells proven to be strongly economic in today's commodity-price environment.
